Winter
An artist who lives in Quebec is inevitably faced with this theme: winter. This is a recurring reality that is part of the seasons. If some hate it for its coldness and accompanying discomforts, for an artist, it is a rich source of beauty and inspiration. Thanks to the whiteness of the snow, landscapes become luminous, shapes round out, details glow with a white outline. Ladouceur often came back to this source, from which he drew several watercolors. He studied the subtle hues that define snow covered surfaces which, far from being empty, contribute to the composition of a painting. Surrounded by these almost bare spaces, the other elements of the composition instantly gain a formal, almost graphic treatment.
